Psalms 6

Prayer for Mercy in Time of Trouble.

For the choir director; with stringed instruments,
Or according to a lower octave (Heb Sheminith)
upon an eight-string lyre. A Psalm of David.

1 O Lord, bdo not rebuke me in Your anger,
Nor chasten me in Your wrath.
2Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am cpining away;
dHeal me, O Lord, for emy bones are dismayed.
3And my fsoul is greatly dismayed;
But You, O Lordghow long?

4Return, O Lord, hrescue my
Or life
soul;
Save me because of Your lovingkindness.
5For jthere is no
Or remembrance
mention of You in death;
In
I.e. the nether world
Sheol who will give You thanks?

6I am mweary with my sighing;
Every night I make my bed swim,
I dissolve my couch with nmy tears.
7My oeye has wasted away with grief;
It has become old because of all my adversaries.

8 pDepart from me, all you who do iniquity,
For the Lord qhas heard the voice of my weeping.
9The Lord rhas heard my supplication,
The Lord sreceives my prayer.
10All my enemies will tbe ashamed and greatly dismayed;
They shall
Or again be ashamed suddenly
turn back, they will vsuddenly be ashamed.
